We are seeking a part-time Research and Communications Assistant to support a long-term effort to improve how the peacebuilding field reduces armed conflict. No prior peacebuilding experience is required. What matters most is intelligence, curiosity, strong writing skills, and an interest in contributing to work that aims to prevent violence.

This role supports the work of Milt Lauenstein, who has spent more than twenty-five years in peacebuilding and has founded efforts such as the Purdue Peace Project, the Better Evidence Project at George Mason University, and the Effective Peacebuilding Initiative. His focus is on encouraging funders and practitioners to make decisions based on evidence of what works, to collaborate more effectively, and to ensure that local leaders play a central role in designing peace interventions.

Responsibilities may include:

Drafting, editing, and refining articles, briefs, and other written materials

Assisting with publication and outreach strategies

Supporting a multi-media campaign to promote evidence-informed peacebuilding

Engaging with Milt’s network to understand feedback and refine messaging

Participating in planning sessions and helping move projects forward

Using AI tools collaboratively during writing and strategy discussions

What we are looking for:

A strong writer who reads widely and communicates clearly

Someone organized, proactive, and able to work independently

Comfort collaborating over regular Zoom calls

An interest in global issues, philanthropy, or social impact work

The position begins part time with the possibility of growing into a long-term or full-time role.
